After the dramatic second part of The Real Housewives of Durban season five reunion, Beverley Steyn has finally broken her silence on the rumours surrounding her role in the fallout between Jojo Robinson and Nonku Williams.
Many fans noticed tension between Jojo and Nonku during the season, especially around their views on faith. Jojo felt that Nonku’s bond with Beverley — who is originally from The Real Housewives of Cape Town and met Nonku during the spinoff Ultimate Girls Trip — made things worse. Since that trip, Nonku and Beverley have grown close friends.
In a statement shared with TimesLIVE, Beverley said she was “shocked to hear and see what played out on the reunion”.
She strongly denied having anything to do with the breakdown of the friendship and said she was upset that some of the other cast members tried to blame her.
“I am quietly living my happy life in Cape Town and am not part of the Durban show. I feel unjustly accused of causing a rift in a friendship during a show I wasn’t part of, which has been deeply hurtful to me,” she said.
Beverley also revealed that Jojo had blocked both her and Nonku on Instagram. She said this left her “confused and hurt” as she believes she and Nonku have their own friendship that doesn’t revolve around religion.
This comes after Jojo recently shared an emotional video online where she opened up about ending her friendship with Nonku.
“Nonku has grown and matured as a person. She deserves respect, specially as no-one truly knows what she has been dealing with in her private life,” Beverley said.
She ended her statement by saying she hopes all three women can eventually move forward and find peace with each other.
“I hope we can all find a resolution to better understand each other with compassion,” she said.
