The BBC decided not renew Jeremy’s contract as the host of Top Gear after he had an altercation with one of the producers.
BBC Director-General Tony Hall received the knowledge that Clarkson physically and verbally attacked a producer, Oisin Tymon, while filming on location leaving the producer with a bloody lip. Oisin later went to a hospital to be treated.
Tony Hall agreed that getting rid of the star of the program “will divide opinion.” Hall also continued to say that there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed and Jeremy had crossed that line.
“There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations,” Hall said.
