We guess the saying “New Year, New Me” doesn’t apply to everyone.
DJ Sbu has made a young man famous on social media networks for all the wrong reasons. Mpho Mokoena has been trending all day for allegedly passing his matric with 100% in all subjects.
Yes, you read right, DJ Sbu posted a video of the young man on his Instagram page claiming that he obtained 100% in all his subjects to pass matric.
The subjects listed under Mpho’s name in the post are Mathematics, Physics, Life Orientation, Geography, English, Sesotho and History.
However the varsity student has come out to tell DRUM magazine otherwise. Mpho did in fact pass matric but that was in 2014 , and he didn’t get 100% in any of his subjects.
Mpho who matriculated at Alafang Secondary School in Katlehong and is currently doing his second year in medicine at the University of Cape Town this year tells DRUM; “I only noticed this last night. I didn’t even get 100% and I didn’t do History in matric.”
He also adds that he did in fact get seven distinctions in matric but he got “89% in Sesotho, 91% in Maths, 82% in English, 95 in Life Orientation, 98% in Geography, 96% in Life Science and 96% in Physical Science.”
Mpho also shares that DJ Sbu came to his house in 2014 and awarded him with a bursary and that’s when he shot the video.
“This took me by surprise but when it started to trend on twitter, I became shaky. I’m a private person and I don’t like to be all over but I don’t know why he [DJ Sbu] re-posted the video.”
Well this is awkward…
