Christina Devraj, the 26-year-old star of The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice, has been at the heart of the show’s most talked-about moments. Known for stirring up drama, Christina has brought a fiery energy to the reality series, but beyond the controversy, she reveals that the experience has been profoundly eye-opening.
In an exclusive interview with TshisaLIVE, Christina shared her thoughts on watching herself on TV. “It has been incredible. I enjoyed filming the show, and seeing it come to life has been brilliant,” she said.
When asked about her relationships with the other women on the show, Christina described them as organic but pointed out that she’s not afraid to “ruffle feathers” and expose everyone’s true character. “I came to the show as the spice, and it definitely brought out personalities,” she remarked.
As the youngest mother on the show, Christina acknowledged the challenges that come with her role but emphasised the importance of staying positive and maintaining a good sense of humour.
One moment that sparked debate was her interaction with fellow cast member Lenore. Christina clarified, “When I met Lenore, I was happy to see a person of color who isn’t Indian on the show. I wanted to have a conversation about diversity and the challenges of competing in Miss India SA. Our disagreement wasn’t intended to attack her but to explore the nuances of representation.”
Through the ups and downs of reality TV, Christina has learned a lot about herself. “I’ve learned I am a lot more resilient than I thought I was. I wasn’t well during the show, but I showed up and made it happen,” she said.
Despite the drama, Christina believes the dynamics between the cast members were essential for the show’s success. “Whether or not we were best friends, we were all doing reality TV together and had to bring the spice. If it was all sugar, the show would not be interesting.”
Her outspokenness, Christina explains, comes from her upbringing. “I believe if you’re not outspoken and don’t have boundaries, people will walk all over you. I learned early in life that being afraid harbors no room for growth.”
Now, as a new mother, Christina finds strength and empowerment in her daughter. “Being mom to a daughter is empowering. There is nothing more beautiful than motherhood and nothing that makes you stronger than being a mom,” she shared.
