Housekeepers Star Xolile Tshabalala Reveals Her First Pay As An Actress Whilst In Matric. From Soul City to Generations, Blood & Water to Housekeepers, Xolile Tshabalala is one of the most sought after actresses that have stood the test of time. Whether it’s the traditional small screen or streaming channels, the actress stays booked and busy
Whilst yesterday’s price is probably not today’s price for Xolile when it comes to her acting gigs, the actress recently got candid in an interview on 702 with Motheo Khoaripe about her first paying acting gig, how she took home and how she spent it. The beauty revealed she was only in Matric when she got her first acting paycheck of R2000. We are going to go ahead and predict this was a huge paycheck for the actress considering it was over two decades ago.
The 45 year old credits her mother, who raised her as a single mom and attending boarding school for how careful she is with money.
“My mom was a single mother, and l was at boarding school and she would say to me, ‘if you finish it during the course of the month you’re in trouble’,” she shared. When she was in Matric she bought herself a futon bed and also gave her mother R2 000. ”I was paid as a professional actor… And l was only in Matric. I saved a lot of money, and l bought myself my first futon bed,” Xolile shared.
On how to be wise with your money, the actress’s advice is that you need to spend money wisely by learning how to budget. She also spoke about her time in America whilst attending the New York Film Academy and how she handled her finances saying, “I would say to my friends, even in America, ’l can stretch a dollar more than anyone else can in this world’”.
We’ve heard stories and seen heartbreaking videos of artists and entertainers running out finances to take care of themselves, it’s safe to say it’ll be long before we see Xolile go down that route.
