In a turn of events that has shocked fans and followers, Siyabonga “Slikour” Metane, renowned hip hop artist and entrepreneur, has allegedly agreed to buy his wife Melissa Wilkinson out of their lavish Sandton marital home. This comes after the couple’s failed attempts to salvage their marriage.
According to an exclusive reveal by Sunday World, Metane has settled to pay Wilkinson at least R250,000 as part of the agreement for her to vacate their upscale Johannesburg residence. The former Skwatta Kamp member’s decision was confirmed by a close source to the estranged couple.
The insider disclosed that the couple mutually agreed Metane should retain ownership of the house, currently co-owned by both parties. As part of their settlement, Metane will bear the cost of conveyancers and transfer lawyers to have the property solely transferred to his name, effective from the date of their divorce.
The agreement stipulates that Metane will pay Wilkinson half of the settlement amount within 12 months post-divorce. During this period, Wilkinson is permitted to reside in the house with their child. Once this period elapses, she is required to find alternative accommodation. The remaining R150,000 will be paid to Wilkinson within seven days of her vacating the property. Should Wilkinson fail to leave the house as agreed, she will be obligated to pay her former husband R15,000 monthly rent.
Additionally, Metane has agreed to transfer ownership of a motor vehicle he purchased for Wilkinson to her name. Wilkinson will also retain her personal belongings, including artwork, heirlooms, and gifts from relatives and friends.
A source close to the couple expressed sorrow over their decision to part ways. “We are sad that Siyabonga and his wife have decided not to fight to save their marriage. We wish them luck, and we hope that in the 12-month period that she is going to live with him under one roof after the divorce, they will reignite their spark and be lovers again,” the source commented.
Wilkinson’s decision to end the marriage stemmed from allegations of abuse and infidelity. She accused Metane of being emotionally, financially, and psychologically abusive. She also lamented the loneliness she felt due to Metane’s career commitments and his neglect of their relationship. The source further revealed that Wilkinson felt sidelined in crucial family decisions and often found herself in the dark regarding marital matters.
