South African music star Tyla is finally getting ready to perform at the world-famous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which starts this Friday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

This is a huge moment for Tyla, as it marks her first time performing at Coachella. She’ll be sharing the stage with some of the biggest stars in the world, including Lady Gaga, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX, Missy Elliott, Lisa and Jennie from Blackpink, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Tyla, best known for her hit song Water, will proudly represent South Africa at the festival. Other African artists joining the lineup include Nigeria’s Rema and Seun Kuti, as well as Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae.

According to TshisaLIVE, Coachella is one of the biggest music festivals in the world, featuring 144 artists and attracting more than 125,000 fans each weekend. Millions more will be watching online as the event takes place over two weekends, from April 11 to 13 and April 18 to 20.

If you were hoping to buy a ticket to see Tyla live, you might be shocked by the prices. General admission tickets, which originally sold for $399 (around R7,753), are already sold out. However, tickets are still available from resellers like Vivid Seats — but they come at a much higher price. Single-day passes for Friday, which include Tyla’s performance, now start at $1,151 (about R22,366) for basic general admission.

Tyla was actually supposed to perform at Coachella last year, but she had to cancel because of an injury that also affected several of her North American tour dates. Speaking to Billboard Magazine in an April 2024 interview, Tyla said canceling was a very hard decision.

“It’s difficult because I want to go, it’s a moment I’ve been waiting for, my team, everyone’s been waiting for a very long time,” she shared.

“It was not an easy decision, but it’s the right decision. I know when I come back and when I’m dancing again, I’m going to be giving a whole spectacular show,” she added.

Now, Tyla is feeling excited and ready for this year’s performance. Her journey to Coachella shows how believing in yourself and staying true to your dreams can pay off. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Tyla shared how much this moment means to her. She wrote, “Had many opportunities to go but swore to myself that the first time I go to Coachella, imma be performing… and look now.”

Fans are now more excited than ever to finally see Tyla shine on the Coachella stage.
