The SAFTAs is delighted to announce the nominees for the 19th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs19). The SAFTAs19 Craft and Main Show Awards, themed: One Story. One Industry. One Future. – Celebrating South Africa’s Screen Legacy, Together, will be held on 13 and 14 March 2026.
The long-delayed awards ceremony is finally here, and popular productions like iThonga, How to Ruin Love, Skeem Saam, Uzalo, and GO! lead the pack for the 19th annual SA Film and Television Awards.
The Saftas Craft awards show will be streamed live on the Saftas YouTube page and across social media platforms on 13 March 2026. The main awards show will be simulcast live on Mzansi Magic (Channel 161) and SABC 2 on 14 March 2026. The main event will also be preceded by the Red Carpet special, which will air on both channels.
“It is fitting that the producers, directors, actors and all involved get the recognition they deserve and that they be celebrated for the great work they do in keeping important conversations ongoing,” said National Film and Video Foundation acting CEO Onke Dumeko, according to the Sowetan.
Several well-known actors have received nominations this year. Zenande Mfenyana (Inimba) is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Telenovela. Aubrey Poo (Generations: The Legacy) is nominated for Best Actor in a TV Soap. Bonko Khoza (iThonga) is nominated for Best Actor in a Telenovela, while Sello Maake ka-Ncube (Champions) is also nominated for Best Actor in a Telenovela.
The nominees for Best TV Soap are Binnelanders, Generations: The Legacy, Scandal!, Skeem Saam and Suidooster.
Nominated for Best Telenovela are Blood Legacy, Kelders van Geheime, Inimba, iThonga and Youngins.
The nominees for Best TV Comedy include How to Ruin Love, Mabaso Family Reunion, Magda Louw season 2, Mince Jou Hare, and The Morning After.
For Best Actress in a TV Comedy, nominees are Desire Gardner (Magda Louw season 2), Lerato Mvelase (Mabaso Family Reunion), and Sivenathi Mabuya-Bukani (How to Ruin Love season 1).
This year’s awards promise to celebrate South Africa’s best talent in film and television, bringing the industry together under one powerful theme: One Story. One Industry. One Future.
