The anticipation is palpable as the nominees for the third edition of the Basadi in Music Awards (BIMAs) have been announced, setting the stage for an electrifying ceremony at Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 10 August.
Hosted virtually by the dynamic media personality Ipeleng Selepe, the announcement event was anything but ordinary. Selepe’s charisma was matched by captivating performances from Wanda Baloyi, Makhanj, and DJ Mmatsheko Mosito, adding a layer of excitement and flair to the proceedings.
Leading the pack with an impressive five nominations is the Grammy-winning sensation, Tyla. Hot on her heels are DJ Zinhle and Lwah Ndlunkulu, each securing four nominations. Meanwhile, Lwah Ndlunkulu’s talent has earned her nominations for Afropop Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year.
Equally impressive are Kamo Mphela and Cici, who have also garnered four nominations each. Kamo Mphela is in the running for Amapiano Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year for ‘Dali’, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year. Cici’s versatility shines through her nominations for Collaboration of the Year, Dance Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.
Not far behind is Makhadzi, whose talent has earned her nominations for Songwriter of the Year, Dance Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year.
