The new Generations Legacy has failed to live up to it’s predecessor’s legacy. The show’s comeback was said to have received a whooping 7.5 Million views on the night it premiered which are figures said to have surpassed any viewership the soapie had generated over it’s 20+years  span. Unfortunately, whilst the pilot trended the night it premiered the show’s come back has not been with positive feedback at all and this has affected it’s viewership ratings badly.

Generations-Legacy

The soapie’s low ratings has been attributed to viewers who felt taken for granted as soapie bosses did not try to even give viewers the closure they so yearned for. What happened to Dineo ? was she found? All these were questions left not only unanswered but obscurely complimented with a “2 years later” opening title which did not sit well at all with viewers. Never mind the new cast , inexperienced at that.

The soapie seems to have banked so much on its traditional following and veteran actors known as “Karabo Moroka” and “Tau Mogale” but this added little or no value as these actors have now been labelled as traitors and opportunists by disappointed fans.

According to the latest ratings this is how Generations The Legacy performed in first week of broadcast.

Monday: 7.5 million
Tuesday: 6.5 million
Wednesday: 6.1 million
Thursday: 5.4 million
Friday: 4.1 million

Further ratings indicate that the soapie’s ratings are now way below Skeem Saam and Muvhango. There has also been speculation that  ETV is working on a similar program which will be aired during the prime time, 8pm slot . What do you think of the new Generations Legacy? Have you been watching? Is it worth your time?
