Former SABC Radio DJ Facing R2.6m Drug Charges Out On Bail! Former GoodHope FM DJ Dino Michael and his wife appeared in court in Cape Town on Thursday after drugs worth R2.6-million were allegedly found at their home.
Michael was freed on bail of R50‚000 whilst his wife‚ Janine‚ is out on bail of R10‚000, however, most people use Bail Bonds for this process, usually because they cannot afford it themselves.
These crimes are very serious, hence why the bail money was set this high. As they are now out on bail, they are able to live on the outside world until a date has been set for their trial, instead of spending it within the confines of a jail. This wouldn’t have been done if they decided against using a professional online bail bonds service, or if they didn’t have enough funds to be able to pay their full bail amount.
The Hawks said the Michaels were arrested on Tuesday after cocaine and MDMA‚, as well as R300‚000 in cash‚ were seized in a raid at their Tamboerskloof home. MDMA consumption is something that should be done at one’s own risk as it is not guaranteed that your experience with it will be totally safe – people could consider using an MDMA test kit to ensure that whatever they’re planning on taking isn’t laced with additional questionable substances that could prove to be harmful.
Michael would plead not guilty to the charges against him‚ advocate Pete Mihalik told Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
The 48-year-old is the resident DJ at Chinchilla in Camps Bay‚ where he reportedly earns R20‚000 a month. He was reportedly earning R8‚000 a month at GoodhopeFM before recently leaving the station.
Michael’s passport was confiscated by the police and the couple’s bail prevents them leaving the Western Cape without the investigating officer’s permission.
The couple reportedly usually travel overseas twice a year‚ and were in Bali for Easter. Janine is her husband’s bookkeeper‚ Mihalik said. The couple have a son who is in Grade 6.
