Chidimma Adetshina’s journey to the crown has been anything but conventional, the Soweto-born beauty queen, who once stirred controversy in South Africa, has emerged victorious as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The finale, held at the prestigious Eko Hotel Convention Centre in Victoria Island, saw Adetshina rise above 24 other contestants to claim the crown.

Adetshina’s path to the Miss Universe Nigeria crown was marred by scandal in South Africa. Just days before the Miss South Africa 2024 finale, she was forced to withdraw from the competition after the Department of Home Affairs discovered evidence suggesting that her parents may have committed identity fraud when she was born. The allegations cast a shadow over her citizenship and led to her disqualification from the pageant.

Undeterred by the controversy, she seized the opportunity to represent her Nigerian heritage and entered the Miss Universe Nigeria competition. Her victory not only secures her a place on the global stage at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico but also comes with a substantial cash prize of over R100,000.

She shared her appreciation on her social media, Adetshina expressed deep gratitude for her win and dedicated her crown to God. “HELLO UNIVERSE,” she began, her excitement palpable. “Standing here as Miss Universe Nigeria is a dream come true, and I am deeply honored and humbled to wear this crown tonight.”

She continued, “I want to dedicate this crown to God Almighty, who has been my strength through every trial and triumph. Without His grace, I wouldn’t be standing here today. I am forever grateful..

She passionately spoke about her advocacy for African unity, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence. “Let’s break down the barriers that divide us. Let’s foster a continent where every African can move freely without prejudice, pursue their dreams, and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our great continent,” she urged.
