Former Isibaya Actress Asavela Mqokiyana Joins Durban Gen. The actress took to her socials to announce that she has been cast in etv’s medical drama telenovela.

Asavela Mqokiyana is one of the few thespians who has been cast in ‘Durban Gen’ as the curtains are expected to fall for the drama telenovela. Her debut has been met with many avid viewers expressing their excitement. It does seem that Asavela is going to kill her character of Amahle Dladla in ‘Durban Gen’ as she also had many ‘Isibaya’ viewers hooked to their screens with her on-screen portrayal of Ntwelenhle— a defiant and brave woman.

Taking to her Instagram, the actress shared a slew of pictures to announce that she had been the latest addition to join the cast of the prime time drama. “Allow me to introduce to you Amahle Dladla. find out more about Amahle tonight. Join the generals @durbangen_etv @etvonline (194 ) Monday to Friday 18:30,” she captioned the photos.

Back in May of 2022, eTV announced that the telenovela produced by ‘Stained Glass TV’ was going to come to an end in 2023. The reason for this is due to its viewership numbers gradually decreasing, this is after it had started off strong with big viewership numbers in its first eight months when it debuted in October of 2020.

“e.tv can confirm that the hospital drama Durban Gen will be coming to an end in January 2023. The decision to decommission the daily drama is part of a business strategy which includes the ongoing review of the on-air life-cycle of all our shows,” part of the statement read.

“e.tv continues to look forward to fulfilling its mandate of producing exceptional and relevant local content, and the production has successfully achieved its part of the obligation throughout the past 2 years,” ETv’s statement concluded.
