Former Emizini Wezinsizwa Actor Vusi Thanda To Work With Government On A Project. The legendary and highly esteemed actor is set to work with the Department of Arts and Culture minister, Zizi Kodwa.

Minister Kodwa took to his official Twitter to make the announcement, the purpose of him being part of the creative team and ambassador of the creative sector is so that he could hone skills in upcoming thespians saying, “As far as we are all concerned as South Africans, Vusi Thanda is a great talent, many of our young actors grew up watching him, we still see him on TV today. We’ve approached him to be part of our Creative Sector Ambassadors, to work with us to better arts and culture.”

The good news of his appointment comes after Kodwa recently met with legendary actress, Connie Chiume to talk about issues of auditions, financial woes, exploitation amongst other things plaguing people in the arts. After having deliberations and open discussions with her, Zizi said: “I must admit that as a country, and probably as the government, we have not appreciated the role of arts and culture. And I thought that one of the people that I must meet, given what she said, is to gain some more information and wisdom from her.”

Vusi’s portrayal of the Tshawe character on ‘SABC 1’s Emzini Wezinsizwa made him to become a popular household name. The show ran from 1993 to 2005, after the actors of the show were laid off because of their wage demands. In September of 2022, following his request and plea to the public to help him financially, he revealed to DJ Sbu on his YouTube channel that many benevolent people had shown him compassion—including the late Shona Ferguson by providing financial assistance.
