Uhmm, so apparently Big Papa AKA owes someone some money.
Matthews Matle, an events organiser from Soweto, Johannesburg recently reached out to Daily Sun to open up about a little encounter his had with AKA and his manager. The owner of Free Being Concepts told the paper that he had booked AKA to perform at a show on the 26th of October.
He further revealed that he paid R31 000.00 to King Doro’s manager Raphael Benza to secure the booking but, AKA didn’t pitch.
According to Matthews, AKA then promised that he would perform at the next concert which was set to be held on the 30th 0f November and once again the rapper didn’t pitch, and his excuse was that he had a gig outside the country.
“He left fans stranded,I am tired of AKA and his manager ducking and diving. I want my money back.”
Matthews added that raising the money to pay the rapper was not an easy task and that losing the money is a major setback.
“I have been chasing after AKA and Raphael since last year, trying to secure a date. But all my attempts have been unsuccessful.”
He adds that every time he calls Doro’s manager he never receives a clear answer.
“I’m tired of chasing after him. I have been patient all this time, trying to build a good relationship with AKA but he avoids me and his manager tells me he is doing other shows or is out of the country.”
When the paper contacted Raphael for comment he wasn’t to pleased that Matthews had reached out to them about the issue.
“Why is he calling you? You guys can pay him back that money,” he said.
The paper then asked Raphael why they haven’t paid back the money and he said: “Tell Matthews to read his contract and bye bye!”
Ok well true, there’s always two sides to a story right?
The paper reports that Cassper Nyovest and Riky Rick were also set to perform at the concert that was held at Chaf Pozi in Soweto.
Matthews said: “Cassper apologised when he couldn’t perform on the first date and I understood.
“He performed on the second date but AKA didn’t.”
But, did it have to end with that statement though? Well we really hope Doro’s team contacts Matthews to sort out the issue or something of that manner!
