Lebogang Sehoana, the estranged wife of Lekau Sehoana, the owner of the popular sneaker brand Drip, has opened up about her troubled marriage and the alleged abuse she endured. Speaking candidly on the Madam Speaker’s podcast, Lebogang shared the hardships she faced in her relationship with Lekau, whom she married in 2018.
According to Sunday World, Lebogang revealed that she and Lekau had known each other since their school days. When they got married, Lekau was unemployed, while she was supporting them through multiple business ventures, including selling eggs, chickens, and running a Shisanyama. Despite her financial strain, she also managed a rental business and was the primary breadwinner for her siblings and her new household.
Their journey into entrepreneurship eventually led to the birth of the Drip sneaker brand. However, as the business grew, so did the cracks in their marriage. Lebogang recounted how their relationship began to deteriorate as Lekau gained popularity and became involved with a new social circle. His late-night returns, often intoxicated, and engaging in unfamiliar rituals, marked the beginning of their marital discord.
“He would come home at 3am slaughtering chickens. And when I spoke about it, that is when the abuse escalated,” Lebogang disclosed. She detailed how Lekau’s frustrations over negative reviews of Drip led to physical and emotional abuse, which eventually drove her to suggest a separation for the sake of their child.
Lebogang described how the abuse continued even after their separation, with Lekau using their child and social media to manipulate and intimidate her. “The abuse escalated to a point where we opted to get divorced. And I eventually had to change the door locks,” she said. Despite their ongoing divorce proceedings since 2022, Lebogang claimed that Lekau has been uncooperative and continued to withhold maintenance and school fees for their child.
She also recounted disturbing threats from Lekau, who allegedly boasted about his power and connections, urging her to accept whatever he offered or face destruction. “He said I should take whatever he is giving me because he is very powerful… He controls social media and has politicians on his payroll.”
Lebogang vehemently denied media reports accusing her of attempting to kill Lekau and being admitted to a mental institution. “I am tired of being abused, I have suffered so much in silence. This is enough,” she declared, i that she funded the business they built together and refuting Lekau’s attempts to paint her as a gold digger.
