The simmering drama between Real Housewives of Durban star Nonku Williams and Tammy Taylor Faerie Glen owners Mel and Peet Viljoen reached a boiling point, as reported by Daily Sun. The controversy, sparked during an episode of The Ultimate Girls Trip, has taken a public turn with the Viljoens issuing a heated response to Williams’ accusations.
In the June 10 episode, Nonku Williams made startling allegations, suggesting that Mel Viljoen was a victim of abuse at the hands of her husband, Peet Viljoen. The couple, known for their involvement in the controversial salon franchise Tammy Taylor, wasted no time in addressing these claims.
Peet Viljoen fiercely denied the allegations, quipping, “The only abuse Mel suffers by my hand is probably the weight of the diamonds I keep gifting her.” He further elaborated on their decision not to have children, countering Nonku’s claims that he had forced Mel into this choice.
“Mel and I together decided not to have kids. Mel has literally no family left. No one to assist should anything happen to me. We’re not living in 1955. Women are not worth less when children are not what they desire. I’m taken aback by the baby-shaming on the show. I absolutely love and adore my wife. I’ve been dreaming about a woman like Mel since I was a child. I work seven days a week to provide for Mel. I organise her schedule. I have people prepare her meals and arrange hair appointments, nail appointments at our own salon Tammy Taylor Faerie Glen,” Peet passionately defended.
Mel Viljoen expressed her sorrow over the situation, particularly being shamed for her personal choices by Nonku and co-star Lethabo “Lejoy” Mathatho. “My husband Peet is the pillar of my world, my emotional home. Nothing is too much to ask when my happiness is at stake. In a period when women claim that we have each other’s back, it saddens me to be baby-shamed by Lethabo and Nonku,” Mel remarked.
She continued, stressing the seriousness of the abuse allegations. “Accusations of abuse are dangerous and career-ending. Abuse is a disease of our time and shouldn’t be loosely thrown around without consequences. Nonku and Lethabo are continuously sidestepped by happiness in relationships. My advice to them is to mind only the business that pays them. I’m way too busy mowing my lawn. I have no time to see if the grass on their side of the fence is greener than mine.”
With such strong statements from the Viljoens, it seems the drama between the salon owners and the reality TV star may reach a resolution sooner rather than later.
