Dr Tumi And Wife Acquitted Of All Fraudulent Charges. Gospel artist and medical doctor Dr Tumi and his wife Kgaogelo Makweya have found themselves deep in hot water when they were both laid with fraudulent charges. The couple were embroiled in a scandal where they were accused of defrauding the National Lottery Commission of over R1.5 million.
In tweet shared by the Dr Tumi on social media he revealed the news of the charges being dropped against them at the Palm Ridge commercial crime court.
“Morning fam. The beauty of the truth is that it can’t be changed. Today we were exonerated of any wrong doing!!!,” he wrote.
In April, it was reported that the Tumi and his wife were named by a whistle-blower, who then opened a fraud case that led to their arrest.
In a shared a press release that the couple was represented by Mr O Thovakhale of Thovakhale Attorney’s where the National Prosecution Association exonerated the couple of all charges considering the docket and circumstances related to the case. The case against the married couple has since been withdrawn from the court.
“Due to the matter having been sub judice, we couldn’t comment on it. From the onset we maintained our innocence because we did nothing wrong. Handing ourselves over to the authorities was not an admission of guilt, but was out of respect for law enforcement agencies and to allow justice to take its course,” read part of the statement.
The couple have also shared how thrilled that the whole incident is now behind them so they can focus on what they love doing.
