Dr Musa Mthombeni Celebrates Graduation with Master’s in Medicine from Wits University

Dr Musa Mthombeni is celebrating a huge moment in his career and life—he’s officially a Master of Medicine graduate! The well-known media personality and qualified doctor just completed his Master of Medicine in Diagnostic Radiology from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

Musa proudly shared the news online, posting joyful photos from his graduation day. In the pictures, he is seen smiling with his mother and wife, model and Miss South Africa 2015 Liesl Laurie. Dressed in his graduation gown, Musa looked proud and happy.

In a fun and playful post, he wrote: “Vukani!!!! What do Masters of Medicine graduates eat for breakfast again? Speak fast, the queue marshall looks mean and is about to call my number. NQF level what what Daddies are up!”

This special graduation comes just a few months after he first announced that he had passed. In April, Musa posted a screenshot of the confirmation email from Wits that said:

“Dear Dr Musawenkosi Mthombeni, Congratulations on completing the requirements for the Master of Medicine in Diagnostic Radiology. We wish you all the best in your future career.”

He shared that this achievement came just three days after his 35th birthday, calling it the perfect gift.

“A little birthday present to me. Ke di batla one by one!” he joked.

This isn’t Dr Musa’s first big win. In 2023, he became a board-certified specialist radiologist after passing the FC Rad Diag (SA) exams. He shared his excitement at the time, writing:

“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Dr. Musawenkosi Mthokozisi Mthombeni – FC Rad Diag (SA). A ‘Board Certified’ SPECIALIST RADIOLOGIST. Results are out (Frame 2 if you can’t believe it — trust me I didn’t either — I had to keep asking Liesl if she also sees the word pass). All the studying (and you know I hated every minute of it) has paid off.”

From television screens to hospital wards, Dr Musa continues to inspire many South Africans with his hard work, sense of humour, and love for learning. Congratulations to the newly graduated Master of Medicine!
