Musician Dr Malinga is already embracing the spirit of love, kicking off his Valentine’s Day celebrations in grand fashion. The Indlela hitmaker surprised his wife, Boitumelo Malinga, with a stunning Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, calling it a “small token of love and appreciation.” The heartwarming gesture was shared in a video posted on social media, where Boitumelo, who gave birth to their sixth child in July 2024, was visibly moved upon receiving the luxury car.
In an interview with Daily Sun, Dr Malinga explained that, for him, love isn’t limited to a single day of celebration. He emphasised the importance of cherishing and pampering a partner every day, not just on special occasions like Valentine’s Day. “A car is a small token. I come with a big heart for her. Some may misunderstand me when I say it’s a small token, but my heart is bigger than this car,” he said. “The love you give every day is more important than a car you buy once a year or every five years. The main thing is to love your person every day.”
Dr Malinga also shared valuable advice for young men navigating relationships. “My brothers, focus where love is. If you feel unappreciated, walk away. Don’t force or threaten anyone to love you. Respect is earned. I’ve been with my wife for a long time and have never raised a hand on her. Respect your woman, and if she doesn’t respect you, leave,” he advised.
Despite previously facing financial struggles, including issues with SARS, Dr Malinga revealed that he would never let money worries stand in the way of making his wife happy. “SARS is someone I will owe forever. I actually wish to owe them R100 million because that would mean I’m making more. I’ve learned my lessons and am still learning. I make mistakes because I’m human, but we keep moving forward,” he said.
As Valentine’s Day also marks their wedding anniversary, Dr Malinga hinted at another surprise for Boitumelo—baby number seven. “We’re continuing… maybe I’ll give her baby number seven,” he teased, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what’s next.
