Dr Malinga Speaks On R500k Black Coffee Donation Rumor And Thanks Celebs Who Showed Him Love Following Emotional Interview. A few months ago, photos of musician Dr Malinga’s belongings being repossessed went viral on social media. The singer finally sat down with MacG on his podcast this past week to talk about what he’s been up to and what led to him losing his furniture.
Dr Malinga was owing SARS about R2 million, he detailed how he had paid half of it but claims he now owes them only R500k. He explained how the COVID-19 pandemic affected his income as he could not perform or get booked for gigs thus not being able to pay his taxes on time.
An emotional Dr Malinga went on to detail how he much he was affected when twitter blogger Musa Khawula tweeted photos of his belongings back in July and told the whole world that the singer was broke and he is always the one helping people. “Everything I give people they don’t come for me ,Musa Khawula announced that everything had been taken from me, I was fine about that before because they took them in July and l thought I could recover whatever was due to SARS but couldn’t because money is not coming in,” he shared crying.
Following the interview which went viral, it seems a couple of local celebs reached out to Dr Malinga. It’s not clear what kind of help they offered but the singer later took to twitter to thank them. From Makhadzi who invited him to perform at her ‘One Woman Show’ to industry legends like Oskido and Black Coffee, they all showed up for him. He however cleared the rumor that had been circulating about DJ Black Coffee having given him half a million Rands saying, “Hi guys @RealBlackCoffee didn’t give 500k let’s not mislead people thanks bye.”
