Afro-soul singer and songwriter Donald Moatshe, popularly known simply as Donald, has set the record straight about his music career. The award-winning artist recently took to social media to respond to fans who’ve been wondering why they don’t see him as much as before.
I’ve been seeing so many comments of “What happened to Donald” and I realized just how some people have not fully grasped how different the industry is now, the Algorithm is a new thing, the fact that you don’t see much of what I’m doing doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything. If…

On his X account (formerly Twitter), Donald shared a heartfelt message addressing those questions. He wrote, “I’ve been seeing so many comments of ‘What happened to Donald,’ and I realized just how some people have not fully grasped how different the industry is now. The Algorithm is a new thing — the fact that you don’t see much of what I’m doing doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything. If you’re interested in what I’m doing feel free to check out my pages and get in tune. PS: I have never taken a break. I’m a working artist and continue to do that every day of my life.”
Donald made it clear that he hasn’t disappeared — the music industry has just changed, and social media algorithms can make it harder for fans to see what their favourite artists are up to. On Instagram, he added, “Guys. For some of us this music thing is work and not a cool thing to do for the time being. Nna ke mo spaneng (I’m at work).”
I chose this career knowing very well what it comes with, I try by all means to understand people and their train of thought so that I can comprehend better why they say the things they do. People are going though a lot man and I try to atleast understand that https://t.co/nBKQN79Xje

Fans quickly showed him love and respect for how he handled the comments. One user, @PeeH_ZA, wrote, “I just respect how you don’t let anyone get under your skin and always address people with respect and kindness.” Donald humbly responded, “I chose this career knowing very well what it comes with. I try by all means to understand people and their train of thought so that I can comprehend better why they say the things they do. People are going through a lot, man, and I try to at least understand that.”
I have a song with Kabza, I don’t know when it will drop, I wish to do one with Sam Deep or Soa Matrix in the near future 🙏🏾 I hope this puts your heart at ease 🙏🏾 https://t.co/447YrEV89L

Another fan, @just_tshiamo, encouraged him to try amapiano, saying, “Bro, please hop into amapiano!!” Donald revealed that he already has something in the works. “I have a song with Kabza, I don’t know when it will drop. I wish to do one with Sam Deep or Soa Matrix in the near future — I hope this puts your heart at ease,” he replied.
A third user, @DonLemon1031795, also chimed in, saying, “Hop hop, don’t just make one song. Make amapiano. There’s space for you there with your melodies and writing.” But Donald stayed true to his sound, replying, “I appreciate the advice brother, but I will continue doing what I do man, I have no desires of being an Amapiano artist. Sorry if that doesn’t coincide with your hopes for me.”
