Doja Cat’s Emotional First SA Show Wows Fans

American superstar Doja Cat finally made her way to South Africa, and fans could not contain their excitement. The SunBet Arena in Pretoria was filled with energy on 20 March 2026, as thousands of fans gathered to see the global star perform live for the very first time in Mzansi.

The Grammy-winning artist headlined the event as part of the Global Citizen Move Afrika 2026 tour, a pan-African touring circuit that brings some of the world’s biggest stars to the continent. For many fans, this was a long-awaited moment, and the atmosphere in the arena showed just how much Doja Cat means to her supporters in South Africa.

The night started on a high note with South African a cappella group The Joy, who opened the show. The group, known for previously performing with Doja Cat at Coachella in 2024, delivered a powerful performance that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Their vocals warmed up the crowd and built excitement for what was still to come.

Before Doja Cat took to the stage, Moonchild Sanelly brought her unique energy and performance style, capturing the crowd’s attention and adding to the unforgettable lineup. The night also included a special moment when Doja Cat met and took pictures with popular South African DJ Uncle Waffles, showing love to local talent.

When Doja Cat finally stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted with cheers. Fans sang along to her hits, creating a loud and emotional atmosphere inside the arena. The connection between the artist and her audience was clear throughout the performance.

At one point during the show, Doja Cat became emotional as fans filled the venue with chants of her name. With tears in her eyes, she shared a heartfelt message with the crowd, saying, “For a place that I never been to, I sure do feel like l’ve been here before. That’s whats special about South Africa.”

“I want to say thank you to everyone here tonight. This is bigger than than us and this is bigger than me and it’s bigger than anybody here. I want everybody to make some noise to Global Citizen for setting this all up. This was one of my most fun shows I’ve ever done and I’m just so grateful that it was here”

Her words touched many fans, making the night even more special. Doja Cat’s first performance in South Africa was not just a concert, but a powerful and emotional experience that fans will remember for a long time.
