South African actress and media personality Denise Zimba recently shared a deeply painful experience with her followers on social media, revealing the emotional betrayal she faced when she discovered that her German ex-husband, Jakob Schlichtig, was allegedly having an affair with her childhood friend, Mpumi Mdluli.
On Friday, January 10, Zimba took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her hurt, writing: “Nothing worse than finding out your best friend since you were 14 years old has been having an affair with your husband, and that’s why she always ghosted you when you were pregnant and never celebrated you – birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers.”
Zimba, who married Schlichtig in April 2022, explained the painful realisation that her longtime friend, Mdluli, had been involved with her husband behind her back. The two women had been close since they were 14 years old.
In a follow-up post, Zimba shared photos of herself, Schlichtig, and Mdluli from her wedding day with the caption: “These pictures land really different now … The day of my wedding, your speech, just two years ago … Little did I know.” The photos, once a symbol of happiness, now hold a much different meaning for the actress.
Online sources indicate that Zimba and Schlichtig separated in late 2023, and since then, Zimba has been focused on rebuilding her life. Reflecting on the painful year during a post last November, she wrote: “Close friends betrayed me at levels I cannot even comprehend. Those I loved the most and held close to my heart abandoned me and didn’t choose me.”
Despite the hardships, Zimba expressed gratitude for the lessons learned and the strength she has gained. “I was lied about and stripped of everything I built for myself… And now I have to start over from the very beginning. Yet, I AM GRATEFUL TO GOD FOR ALL OF IT!” she wrote.
With a powerful sense of resilience, she concluded: “I feel free and liberated. Thirty-six years of GOD’s grace.”
