Now it’s one thing for one or two members of a cast to be missing but when the whole crew has diarrhea and is absent from set it’s really a huge problem!

It’s reported that a large number of the Muvhango cast and crew members were rushed to the hospital last week after suffering from an extreme case of food poisoning.

According to Sunday World, the group of actors that were affected by the food poisoning includes Innocentia “Rendani” Makapila, David “Gizara” Sebe and Constance “Hangwani” Sibiya, all three actors were treated at different medical centres after complaining about diarrhea, dehydration and severe abdominal pains.

“It all started on Wednesday and most of them spent the night in the loo.The revolution in their stomachs became worse on Thursday when they arrived at work,” said a crew member speaking to the paper.

It’s also reported that actor David “Gizara” Sebe’s case was more severe than the other two as he was rushed to the hospital after he started bleeding.

According to the paper all cast members that were affected by the food poisoning returned to work on Friday but not looking their best and another crew member was still in hospital in stable condition.

Muvhango‘s production team has apparently since fired the catering service that they believe was responsible for the poisoning, and an intern issued out a statement committing to the health and safety of their cast and crew members.

This incident highlights a common issue that crops up time and again at a lot of restaurants and catering services worldwide – food hygiene. Ensuring clean food sources; keeping the kitchens spotless and pest-free; having the cooking staff as well as other employees take up courses from the likes of Essential Food Hygiene (https://essentialfoodhygiene.co.uk/product/level-2-food-hygiene-catering/); all these practices and more, can help such food-based services offer essential meals to their customers that are also healthy and clean.

So many people involved in a crucial production falling ill at the same time not only causes delays in the work, but also hinders their ability to function at their best and keep healthy. Nobody likes to show up sick to work! Nobody likes getting sick, period.

Sjoe! Talk about drama off stage.
