In a stunning turn of events, Lekau Sehoana, the controversial businessman and owner of the popular sneaker brand Drip, has been evicted from his luxurious villa in Waterfall Estate. This revelation, brought to light by ZiMoja, paints a stark contrast to the flamboyant lifestyle Sehoana has publicly flaunted.
The eviction, which took place in June 2024, has left Sehoana’s ex-wife, Lebogang, and their son homeless. The family was forced out after Sehoana failed to keep up with the monthly rent of R35,000, leading to arrears amounting to almost R100,000. The court application filed by Waterfall Residents Developments at the South Gauteng High Court earlier this year documented the series of defaults and broken promises by Sehoana to settle the outstanding payments.
The eviction saga has been fraught with drama and distress for Lebogang and her son. Lebogang, in a series of WhatsApp messages seen by ZiMoja, expressed her desperation upon returning from a winter holiday to find herself and her son without a home. In one message, she pleaded with Sehoana to resolve the rental issue, only to be told that the developers were adamant about the eviction.
The family’s troubles did not end there. Sehoana’s son was also expelled from school due to unpaid fees, further compounding the hardships they faced. Lebogang has since spoken out, revealing a pattern of abuse and neglect by Sehoana. “We are tired of the abuse, the lies, and the tricks of Lekau,” she said. “As we speak, his very own son is homeless and out of school with no food and no clothes.”
Lebogang also accused Sehoana of failing to honour a court order for maintenance and support. She highlighted how she played a crucial role in the formation of the Drip business, using her own money to buy the first car for the business when Sehoana was broke. Despite her contributions, she claimed Sehoana excluded her from the business operations and took all the credit for their shared accomplishments once he began to taste success.
In March 2024, during the launch of Claws sneakers, Sehoana had boldly assured the public that his children would remain in school despite a liquidation case against him. However, Lebogang revealed that his son had already been out of school for years due to Sehoana’s failure to pay fees and adhere to maintenance orders.
