Connie Ferguson: ‘Trying To Live Without Him Is A Big Adjustment’. Actress, filmmaker, producer and businesswoman, Connie Ferguson sat down for an interview with Newzroom Afrika’s Duduzile Ramela that aired this past weekend to talk about losing her husband, Shona Ferguson.
Connie and her late husband, Shona Ferguson had been married for twenty years. Her husband reportedly died from COVID-19 complications. In an exclusive interview 17 months after Shona’s passing Connie shared the beginning of what was the end of her husband’s life. “We both got sick at the same time, I was also very sick and you know, he was strong for me. Seeing that he was strong for me I obviously thought my husband was strong, you know,” she said.
“Then I think I was like a week in, he started getting his symptoms, they just started getting worse. He struggled more with his breathing more than anything. I still can’t stand the sounds of hospital machines because I literally lived there,” she detailed.
During the interview, she shared a few cherished moments between Shona and herself. She also went on to reminisce of how they met and their career journeys.
“I mean as a pair we were great husband and wife but we were great as business partners as well. He was my biggest friend. There was just nothing I could not do with that man. There was just nothing I could not do, he literally made me feel like I… it’s a pity you can’t say certain things on television but he literally made me feel like I was the world- like I was everything you know and that gave me so much confidence to have not only a partner that was brilliant on his own but that really believed in my capabilities,” she added.
