Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa 2024 contestant, has announced that she is stepping away from the world of pageantry to focus on new opportunities and her personal growth. The beauty queen recently revealed her plans to relocate to Nigeria, where she hopes to chart a new path.
Over the weekend, Chidimma reached incredible milestones, being crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania and securing the position of Miss Universe 1st Runner-Up. She also earned the title of Miss Universe Nigeria, making her a proud representative of her country and continent.
Reflecting on her journey during a press conference, Chidimma shared, “As much as I would like to explore more, I think this is just the end of the road. And I am really proud of where I got to and feel like that not only did I make myself proud, but I made Nigeria proud and Africa proud.”
When asked about her future plans, Chidimma made it clear that pageantry was no longer part of her vision. “What’s next is definitely not pageantry. I am putting pageantry to bed right now. I am going to focus more on my education and obviously establishing who Chidimma is. More into runways, more into acting—so many things that I would like to touch on and actually really see where my potential can grow from,” she told BBC News Pidgin.
Chidimma expressed gratitude to her supporters on social media, writing: “I came, I saw, and I shook the universe. Returning home as Miss Universe First Runner-Up and Miss Universe Africa & Oceania. I’m filled with immense gratitude for Nigeria and Africa for believing in me and helping me reclaim my dreams. This is what it truly means for dreams to come true.”
As Chidimma moves on from pageantry, she plans to focus on her education, explore new creative ventures, and contribute to her home country, Nigeria. “I just want to establish who I am,” she said.
