Chef Xolani, known for his culinary talents and viral presence on social media, recently made headlines for a heartfelt and emotional apology to his fiancée, Vuyokazi Nciweni, after a highly publicised dispute over their relationship. The drama began when a voice note from Xolani went viral, in which he confessed he felt “pressured” into paying lobola, or bride price, for Vuyokazi—a statement that took many by surprise and stirred strong reactions.
In response, Vuyokazi released a public statement, expressing the emotional toll of the situation. She shared, “I am a woman who has always sought to live my life with authenticity and privacy, yet I continually find my personal life in the public domain, especially regarding my relationships…These accusations have brought to light a side of him that I was previously unaware of or perhaps chose not to see. I am devastated by the things said, and I am struggling to process the emotional impact of this situation.”
Vuyokazi’s words were met with an outpouring of empathy from followers who resonated with her heartbreak. She concluded, “I stand here heartbroken and disillusioned, coming to terms with the painful reality of being let down once again… I ask that we cultivate empathy and kindness, not just for me, but for anyone who has faced the pain of love gone wrong.”
Amid the unfolding events, Chef Xolani took to Instagram to apologise, owning up to his mistakes. “I admit I was wrong. Each and every relationship has its own mistakes and challenges. Whatever I said about Vuyo was not true, and I was not okay at that time… I’m really sorry to Vuyo and her family for embarrassing her,” he said in a video statement.
In his apology, Xolani explained that the voice note was shared in a moment of weakness and referenced interactions with the mother of his child, which added complexity to the situation. “I don’t blame the mother of my child; I blame myself for doing all of this,” he admitted. “I regret it, and I’m dealing with it in my own way.”
The relationship appears to have taken a final turn, as Vuyokazi has deleted pictures from her lobola day and removed the title “Wife” from her Instagram bio. Chef Xolani also removed photos from his page, suggesting that the couple may have separated.
