On 3 May 2025, the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga came alive with glamour, music, and cultural pride as the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards delivered a night to remember. Hosted by the always charismatic Siyabonga ‘Scoop Makhathini’ Ngwekazi and the stylish Luthando ‘LootLove’ Shosha, the event was packed with unforgettable performances and breathtaking fashion that lit up the red carpet.

From electrifying sets by artists like Black Motion, Usimamane, K.O., and Langa Mavuso, the night was more than just about music – it was a full celebration of South African talent and identity. One of the most talked-about moments was Makhadzi winning the prestigious Artist of the Year award. Meanwhile, the Best Music Video category featured some of the most creative visuals, showing how South African musicians continue to raise the bar.

This year’s theme celebrated the storytellers of South African culture, and it wasn’t just the stage that paid tribute – the red carpet became a runway of proudly local fashion that turned heads and sparked conversations.

Anele Zondo, originally from KwaZulu-Natal, looked breathtaking in a champagne-toned outfit with a gold corset encrusted with jewels that hugged her waist perfectly. Her silk skirt had a high slit, adding both elegance and flair. To top it all off, she wore a headpiece that boldly spelled out her name, making sure no one forgot it.

Zola Mhlongo chose classic elegance with a twist. Her black velvet gown, complete with a dramatic train, was decorated with gold patterns that started at the chest and continued to the hem. A sheer bodice added texture and contrast, while her confident pose made a powerful statement.

Zanele Potelwa stepped out in a stunning custom-made look by House of Sass. Her outfit featured a champagne-coloured floral bodice with large off-shoulder white sleeves. The skirt, made of white satin, flowed beautifully with a soft train, and she finished the look with a dramatic leaf-shaped headpiece that gave her a queen-like presence.
