Cassper Nyovest Questions South Africa’s Safety After UJ Shooting

South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has publicly reacted to the deadly shooting outside the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Doornfontein campus, questioning how incidents of violence have become so common in South Africa.

Two men were shot and killed outside the University of Johannesburg Doornfontein (DFC) campus on September 14, 2026. The two men were fatally shot by unidentified individuals, with authorities investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack. The incident is suspected to have been a targeted hit.

A post shared by @K1hood_hero on X highlighted the shocking incident and raised concerns about the safety of students and members of the public who use the area.

The post read, “Two men were gunned down today inside a 7 seater by an unknown hitman, this incident happened outside UJ Doornfontein Campus where students pass by when heading to their respective residences.”

The shooting caught the attention of Cassper Nyovest, who responded to the post and expressed disbelief at how casually the alleged gunmen appeared to carry out the attack.

“Dawg how is this normal? Just look at how chilled the gunmen is. A Toyota Corolla as a getaway car, cause like ain’t no need for speed to get out also cause I mean, this everyday for them. How does the president or the powers that be feel about this country they are leading?”

His response comes as concerns about violent crime and public safety continue to spark conversations on social media, particularly when incidents happen in places where students and members of the public regularly pass through.

Cassper has also recently spoken out about the death of 38-year-old Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo, who disappeared while on her regular afternoon jog in Rhodesfield, Kempton Park. When she failed to return home, her eight-year-old daughter alerted relatives, prompting an anxious public search.

Reacting to a post about her death, Cassper expressed his sadness and frustration over yet another life being lost.

“You can’t be serious. Where are the leaders of this country??? Dawg this is soo painful man!!! I hate this soo much about South Africa !!! Soo much!!! Another life gone, just like that??? And these pigs are so comfortable doing this .”
