South African rapper and songwriter Cassper Nyovest has once again become the center of social media conversations, but this time, he’s turning the criticism into motivation.
The star, who is well known for his luxurious lifestyle and bold fashion choices, trended online after his outfit at the Scorpion Kings With Friends Live concert on Friday, 29 August 2025, in Pretoria. Cassper wore a navy two-piece set with a black t-shirt, but the look did not sit well with fans, who quickly compared him to Madea, rapper Saucy Santana, and gospel legend Rebecca Malope.
An Instagram user, Innocentia Tshabalala, even asked him, “Why are you wearing women’s clothes?” Social media users continued to mock his “2 piece Milady’s” look, and the jokes spread like wildfire across platforms.
Cassper, however, did not shy away from addressing the criticism. After reflecting on his career and sharing how spiritual his moment on stage felt, he also clapped back at those mocking his outfit. “What an unforgettable experience at Scorpion Kings Live! Even amidst the secular vibes, we took a moment to lift our voices in praise and honour the Lord. Grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and worship in any setting. All glory to Jesus Christ!” he shared on Instagram.

On Thursday, 4 September, online user @Oriana_RSA added fuel to the fire by posting a picture of Cassper’s outfit alongside a sketch poking fun at him, writing, “Y’all are not letting this Milady’s outfit rest.”
But instead of letting the comments weigh him down, Cassper turned the moment into a fresh start. On Friday, he announced on Instagram that he is officially back on his weight loss journey.
“The comments over the weekend got to me, friend. It’s time to lose weight and get into shape for #FillUpToyotaStadium. Do you have your tickets yet? We’re three months away!!! December 6th!!! Time to do it again!!!” he wrote.
He also posted a video of himself sweating after training, proving that he’s already started. “We’re three months from #FillUpToyotaStadium and I’ve officially started training. I’ve been doing cardio all week. This time it’s a bit more fun because I’m playing tennis. Next week I will be starting weight training. The comments were harsh, they hurt my feelings a little bit, but sometimes that’s what you need — a little push. Firstly, it is definitely a projection about how you feel about yourself, body shaming all of that, you don’t even know what I’m going through. Time to prove them wrong and show them that Mufasa is still a king.”
