Rapper Cassper Nyovest, known for his electrifying performances and chart-topping hits, surprised fans with a different kind of appearance last week. Taking to social media, he shared a video of himself preaching at the popular Miraculous Catch Church in Berea, Durban, during their Youth Revival 2024 event.
In the video posted by Miraculous Catch on Instagram, Cassper is seen passionately addressing the youth, emphasizing the importance of church and a relationship with God. The church’s caption read, “Cassper reminds us of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross through sharing his testimony and encounter with God.”
Cassper’s sermon touched on the reluctance of young people to attend church, stating, “Young people do not come to church because they are scared of the condemnation of the church.” Visibly emotional, he shared his personal testimony, resonating deeply with many in the congregation.
Among his impactful quotes, Cassper declared, “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called,” and, “You can be a good person all you want, but you will go to Hell if you do not have JESUS.” He also emphasized, “If it doesn’t feel like love, it isn’t God.”
While his heartfelt message was met with praise from many, some expressed skepticism about his newfound faith. One commenter cynically remarked, “Showbiz becoming showJesus, this is a joke. WE AFRICANS DESERVE ANOTHER WORLD TO RECEIVE ANOTHER GOSPEL.” Cassper responded with grace and conviction, writing, “Any other Gospel outside the Gospel of Jesus Christ… Who died for our sins and rose after 3 days is a lie my brother. A lie that will lead you or anyone else straight to hell. That’s where I was headed. He saved me, he touched me, and he loved on me so strong that I can’t deny it. Jesus Christ is the true living God. I hope one day you find him and you will find rest. I love you, more importantly though, He loves you.”
Despite the mixed reactions, many commended Cassper for his bravery and the positive impact of his sermon on the youth. The event, held from June 20th to June 23rd at CFCI Alhambra Theatre, was part of Miraculous Catch’s Youth Revival 2024, aiming to inspire and uplift young people.
Cassper Nyovest’s unexpected turn to faith and his willingness to share his spiritual journey has sparked conversations and reflections, proving that his influence extends far beyond music.
