Social media gave AKA and Bonang a hard time on why they didn’t stand up for Black Coffee when he won a BET Award. Cassper on the other hand took to social media to explain why he stood up and clap for Black Coffee when he won. Cassper filled with joy over Black Coffee’s BET Award.
Taking to Facebook in a live video earlier this week, Cassper said he was happy for Black Coffee because it was also a win for South Africa. “When Black Coffee won that BET Award I stood up because I was filled with joy. I said ‘One of my own has won a BET Award. For the first time a South African has won a BET Award’,” he said.
Cassper says he was happy to witness Black Coffee and South Africa win. “I was happy and I stood up and clapped for him… For me, it was ‘South Africa took it home’. That’s my home. We won it. Black Coffee didn’t win alone, we won as South Africans. It’s our award,” he said.
The rapper then threw a subtle shade at his nemesis AKA saying he doesn’t see how someone’s success doesn’t offend him.
“Somebody like me doesn’t hate the next guy because the next guys success is not my failure. I’m not offended by someone else’s success. It inspires me… that’s what you should be getting from other people’s success. Don’t be that guy always hating on people.”
Good on you Cassper!
