Bujy Bikwa Spends Weekend In Jail After Bail Application Was Denied. Former Metro FM DJ Bujy Bikwa had a sour start to the month of October after his bail application was denied. This follows the confirmation of Bikwa attacking rapper Boity Thulo after an argument spiralled into a physical altercation. The City Press publication first reported that the rapper was rushed to hospital after being brutally attacked with a bottle to the face.
The incident took place at the Courtyard Hotel last week Thursday and sources claim that the pair were conversing about Sangoma’s and ancestors until an argument broke out between the two of them . Apparently Bujy and Boity were drunk and screaming at each other before they threw hands.
Sources claimed that the incident was very gruesome to watch as Bujy did not hold back when assaulting the BT Signature CEO, who apparently left covered in blood stains.
“Bujy really beat that girl up badly … Boity was wearing a white shirt and her shirt was red with blood stains. Her face was also bad” the source said.
Thulo opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm at the Midrand police station and Bikwa was arrested shortly afterwards and spent the night in the police cells. A police spokesperson confirmed that a case had been opened by the rapper and the podcaster was expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
It appears that Bikwa spent the weekend in jail after his bail application was postponed at the Midrand Magistrates’ Court on Friday. NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said Bikwa’s matter would return to court on Wednesday.
“[The case was] postponed to Wednesday. The accused is in custody and was charged with assault,” Mjonondwane said.
Boity also confirmed the incident on her Instagram with a statement and asked that she be given the space to heal and overcome the trauma that she was subjected to during the GBV incident.
“It is with deep sadness to state that I was indeed an unfortunate victim of a vicious assault and that I have since opened a case against the culprit, which I am following with keen interest. I do not wish to comment on this matter any further. I respectfully request some space as I try to find a way to heal both physically and emotionally from this traumatic experience. I have faith in our criminal justice system and implore everyone to stand firmly against gender-based violence” the statement reads.
