Veteran actress and TV personality Brenda Ngxoli has revealed the painful reality of the abuse she continues to face at the hands of her mother. In a shocking video shared on Instagram, Ngxoli captured an emotional confrontation between herself and her mother, sparking a wave of support from her followers.
The altercation, which took place over the weekend, showed Ngxoli confronting her mother, who allegedly threatened to expose her in the media. “Beat me; you are used to doing this,” Ngxoli says in the video, according to Sunday World. “You’ve been telling people that I beat you when you are the one who wanted to hit me with a brick.”
In the video, Ngxoli’s mother is seen holding a stick while accusing her daughter of not taking care of her. “Expose yourself; come outside and show your face. This is who you are,” she says. At one point, she shuts herself inside a room, leaving Ngxoli to respond calmly: “It is not my responsibility to feed you; even that is abusive behavior.”
Throughout the exchange, Ngxoli is seen with her daughter on her back, visibly distressed. She later shared an emotional update, expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support from South Africans. “I am so grateful that God showed me in this period that I am also human,” she said. “It was not my intention to post this journey. I thought I was going to take it to the grave, but I guess all secrets or wounds will one day come to the forefront.”
Ngxoli thanked her fans for their financial and emotional support during this difficult time. A crowdfunding campaign initiated by South African TikToker Mandisi Tshingana raised over R50,000 to help Ngxoli during her crisis.
“I just want to thank each and every one of you for reminding me that I am also human,” she said. “I was not asking for money, but God knows I needed it. I am okay; Skye [her daughter] is okay; thank you.”
