South African actress and choreographer Bontle Modiselle is beaming with pride as her older sister, model and trailblazer Refilwe Modiselle, steps into a new role — author. Refilwe has published her very first children’s book, titled Zizi’s World: Through Her Vanilla Eyes, and it’s already receiving lots of love and excitement from fans, fellow celebrities, and family.
The book, described as a “first of its kind,” is already making waves for its empowering message and unique perspective. Bontle couldn’t hold back her joy and admiration for her sister. Sharing her feelings in a heartfelt post, she wrote:
“Guys!!! My first best friend, my older sister @refilwemodiselle, is now an AUTHOR. Reintroducing Refilwe Modiselle, the author of a first-of-its-kind CHILDREN’S BOOK: Zizi’s World: Through Her Vanilla Eyes!”
Bontle continued by expressing just how much this achievement means, not just to their family, but to so many others. “The power of this moment cannot be accurately explained. Proud isn’t enough to describe it. Gratitude is all I have to give — first to God for seeing you through your life’s journey to bring you to this moment.”
She praised Refilwe’s courage and strength in walking her path boldly. “You’re a teacher. A game changer. A change maker. You’re daring. Beautiful in every way imaginable,” Bontle wrote. “May the fruits of your labour of love surpass your wildest imagination.”
The actress reflected on how this book will touch the lives of many children who may see themselves in Zizi’s story. “I can’t imagine the emotions of the child who will see themselves through this book, and be empowered, feel seen, feel loved, and know the beauty of their differences.”
Bontle also shared how her sister continues to inspire her personally: “I reference you in how to unapologetically be myself, be bold, be brave, to be scared but to do it anyway. I’ve never met anyone more fearless… more brilliant… more kind-hearted and free-spirited.”
