Bontle Moloi Modiselle and rapper Ricardo “Priddy Ugly” Moloi are one of Mzansi’s most loved celebrity couples. The choreographer, actress, and media personality has been with her rapper husband for 16 years, and together they share two beautiful children. Over the years, they have supported each other in countless ways, from their careers to their growing family.
Recently, the couple hosted a special screening of the Netflix film Love and Wine, a celebration perfectly suited to their warm and romantic energy. According to TRUELOVE, the publication caught up with the couple at the event, where they shared the moment they realised, “this is the one.”
Priddy Ugly began the story by taking us back 16 years to one of their early dates — a day that went completely wrong but revealed so much about their relationship. He explained that he had planned to meet Bontle in Rosebank, even though he had never taken a taxi there before. As a teenager without a car, he was determined to make it to their 14:00 date.
He shared, “I was linking up with Bontle in Rosebank. I’d never caught a taxi to Rosebank, I didn’t have a car back in the day; teenage years. And I think our little date was supposed to be around 14:00 or so. Dude, can I tell you, I caught a taxi there — I was running two hours late.”
Things got worse when the taxi dropped him in Hyde Park instead of Rosebank. Lost, low on money, and with his phone dying, he started to panic. “It dropped me off all the way in Hyde Park, and I was there on a minimal budget and my phone is dying… I can’t catch a taxi back because the money that I have is only enough for our lunch and for me to catch a taxi back home.”
Still, he refused to give up. After asking around for directions, he finally made his way to Rosebank and arrived at 17:00 — hours late and stressed. But what he found melted his heart.
“But there she was just patiently waiting for me at the Ama Kip Kip store, what a sweetheart. And I just knew then, man, I was like ag man this girl.”
Bontle then shared her side of the story, revealing that his effort meant more to her than he realised.
“I always preferred someone I would catch the bus with,” she admits. “It was just something very poetic and something really beautiful about that effort… So, for me, him having gone through all of that effort, having taken a taxi for the very first time to find his way, get lost, but still find his way to me, I could never be mad at that.”
With his dead phone, little money, and pure determination, he still found her — and that meant everything to her. “We somehow found each other, I could never have been upset about that. So, I think in that regard, that effort let me know that I was the one.”
