Bongani “Mörda” Mohosana and Brenden Praise are thrilled after receiving a Grammy nomination for their work on the soundtrack of The Color Purple, the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s classic novel. The film, based on Marsha Norman’s 2005 stage production, is set to premiere globally in theatres on January 18.
The two artists contributed to Tamela Mann’s song Mysterious Ways as remixers, a track included in the The Color Purple (various artists) album, which has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
Expressing his excitement, Brenden shared, “Grammy-nominated producer wasn’t on my vision board, but I’ll take it! Honoured to have contributed to the soundtrack with my brothers.”
Mörda also shared his gratitude, saying, “I want to thank me for this contribution [along with] @brenden_praise and @dr_moruti on the @thecolorpurple soundtrack. Grammy-nominated! Shoutout to @gamma, @siphodlam, and @gamma.africa for giving me the chance to be on this project. The Good Lord Works in Mysterious Ways indeed.”
