It all looks glamorous and fun on the outside. A few people would tell you they didn’t wish to be in Bonang’s shoes right now but it hasn’t always been fun for the Queen B. Bonang talks being rejected in the media industry in her latest blog.
“I was turned down at least 25 times before I landed SABC2’s Manhattan Fantasy. SABC1’s Live music show, which launched my career, rejected me six times. MetroFM and YFM ignored four and seven of my demos respectively”, she wrote.
Bonang who now hosts one of the biggest shows on Metro FM says she also auditioned for Top Billing numerous times without luck. “I am very resilient. There’s always a voice at the back of my mind that says push, and push some more. I’ve learnt that they are not rejecting me as a person; it’s just that I am not what they are looking for at a particular time.”
If you needed inspiration to keep going, there you have it. Eventually it will happen but we also have to mention Bonang’s work ethic and resilience.
