Bonang Reveals How Rea Gopane Has Been Paying Her For Defamatory Remark. Media personality, Bonang took time on Twitter, to let a follower know that YouTuber Rea Gopane was paying her in small portions.
Back on 9 May 2021, Rea Gopane made some unfounded claims about Bonang in an episode on his podcast—‘Everything SA Music’ video segments. He had said that Bonang had allegedly introduced AKA to the life of drugs, particularly cocaine. Gopane and his cohost, Siyabonga Ngwekazi were dissecting some of the utterances Anele Tembe’s dad had made about drugs and alcohol being the cause of his daughter’s death.
Rea further went on to claim that according to Siyabonga aka Scoop, Bonang was definitely the one who introduced the late AKA to cocaine, saying “We know AKA, let’s not hide from the truth. Scoop told us that AKA is on cocaine and Bonang is the one that got him onto cocaine.”
The video snippet then shortly and quickly went viral on Twitter, with Bonang catching sight of it and quickly hitting back at Gopane. Matheba had taken to Twitter in a string of tweets asking of the podcaster’s email address and warning him not to taunt her, adding that she had let many things slide in the past and this particular case wasn’t one she was going to let slide at all.
The media personality’s legal team then served legal papers to him, that read, “On Sunday 9 May 2021 you falsely and unlawfully accused Bonang Matheba in a widely published video clip of, inter alia, having introduced AKA (Kiernan Jarryd Forbes) to cocaine.”
“In the context of what was being discussed in the video clip, this defamatory allegation was exacerbated by the shocking insinuation that the death of AKA’s girlfriend Anele (Nellie) Tembe was due to AKA’s alleged use of cocaine…” The lengthy lawsuit read.
Matheba’s legal team reportedly asked Gopane to retract his statement and offer a public apology. He had first declined to do so but after mounting pressure he retracted the statement and offered a public apology. In addition to that, Bonang had sued him for an amount of R300 000, with the media personality tweeting, “Run me my money, R300K.” Adding, “The next 30 years are about to be mad fun for him.”
Bonang took to Twitter to reply to a curious follower of how Rea had been paying her since being sued for making the defamatory remarks. “He’s paying in monthly instalments. One day he’ll need a car or house. I’ll attach that too,” Matheba tweeted in response.
