Bonang Reacts To Nathi Mthethwa’s Removal As Minister Of Arts And Culture. The media personality is one of the few celebrities in the country known to have publicly slammed the former minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa.
Bonang Matheba’s first online criticism of the then minister of Sports, Arts and Culture who was also responsible for allocating funds to the arts sector was in 2020. Matheba had called the former minister “annoying” after he took to Twitter to congratulate R&B singer, Elaine for being signed by an international music record label. Many tweeps had also responded to Bonang’s tweet and concurred that the minister was indeed “annoying” as there was nothing productive he was doing.
Back in 2022, Bonang had also lambasted Mthethwa for his offices plans to spend R22 million on a flag. This resulted in many people being enraged as tweeps also chimed into the financial implications of the “monumental flag” that could have been invested in honing talent in the areas of sports and entertainment. “Fire this man. Please. You’re useless and we all hate you. You have no clue what you’re doing. Go away,” Bonang tweeted expressing disappointment and anger at the Minister’s plan.
On Monday, 6 March amidst the news that Nathi Mthethwa was amongst the cohort of ministers that had been axed by President Ramaphosa from their ministerial positions, the 35 year old took to her twitter to tweet, “Wonderful.” Tweeps took to the comments section of the tweet to comment of how upbeat they too were about the minister’s removal. Some even jocularly asking what clothes should they were for #NathiMthethwaIsOverParty.
