Renowned South African DJ and producer Black Coffee has been named the World’s Best DJ at the 9th Golden Moon Awards, adding another milestone to his illustrious career. According to ZiMoja, the Grammy and BET Award winner expressed his gratitude.

“Being recognised for my work brings me joy. Awards are a pat on the back to say – job well done,” he said.

This achievement caps off a record-breaking year for Black Coffee, who became the first South African DJ to headline a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York.

In addition to his recent win, Black Coffee is working on a project close to his heart: the opening of a music academy in South Africa. “This is a project that is very close to my heart. We have been discussing opening a music college here in South Africa.”

The DJ plans to seek funding both locally and internationally. “We will be looking for funders in various countries where I have played, and we plan to only have the best come out of the college,” he added.
