On Wednesday, November 13, former Big Brother Mzansi: S’yamosha star Liema Pantsi surprised South Africans with an unexpected release of her new amapiano track, Amahloni. Known for her captivating personality on the reality show, Pantsi is now diving into the music world, but fans aren’t thrilled with the approach her team took for this release.
According to IOL, Pantsi’s fans voiced concerns about her promotion strategy, saying that as an emerging artist, she still needs to build her platform and audience. Many felt that a surprise release might not be the best move for someone at the start of their music career.
One fan, @Zamaswati_M, shared, “I don’t know how to feel about this, hey. As an upcoming artist, surprise drops are a big no as she doesn’t have that kind of platform or audience yet. She must state if she was aware of this or not.”
Another fan, @shinnyange82297, commented directly to Pantsi, saying, “My honest opinion @liemapantsi, you need to work or change your team. You have the talent, but I don’t like the fact that you’re boxing it. Please work on your team.”
In a statement, Africa Unite Records, Pantsi’s label, clarified that the early release was unintentional. They explained, “Originally, the official release for Amahloni was scheduled for Friday, November 15, when it would be available on all digital platforms. However, the song became available on select platforms ahead of schedule. Our distribution partners are working to ensure Amahloni is available on all streaming platforms as planned by Friday.”
Despite the criticism, many fans still support Pantsi and her journey into music, recognising her talent and hoping for future success. The label expressed appreciation for fans’ patience and assured them that the early release was an unexpected glitch.
