Big Brother Mzansi Season 5 winner Sweet Guluva is going through a painful time after the passing of his beloved sister, Lwazi Zwane. The reality TV star, whose real name is Akhonamathemba Zwane, rose to national fame earlier in 2025 after winning the hearts of millions across South Africa and walking away with the R2 million grand prize.

The 22-year-old, originally from Nquthu in KwaZulu-Natal, had become a household name for his vibrant personality and humble nature on the show. But now, instead of celebrating his new success, he is grieving a personal loss that has left his fans in shock and sadness.

On Monday, 5 May, Sweet Guluva’s team released an official statement confirming Lwazi’s death. The statement read:

“We’re deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Sweet Guluva’s beloved sister, Lwazi Zwane. This is an incredibly difficult time for him and his family, and we kindly ask that you please bear with him as he takes time to mourn and process this great loss. Your continued support, love, and prayers mean the world, and we thank you for the kindness you’ve shown him throughout his journey. Further updates regarding memorial arrangements will be shared when the family is ready. May Lwazi’s soul rest in eternal peace. She will be missed dearly… With love and gratitude, Sweet Guluva Team.”

Since the announcement, fans have flooded social media with messages of support and comfort. On X (formerly Twitter), many shared heartfelt tributes and words of encouragement.

@keletso30933369 wrote, “May God give you, your family and loved ones strength in this difficult period of your grief.”

@Thembi_M19 posted, “My condolences to you and your family, Akhona. May you feel the love from God during this time.”

And @cae1034 added, “Yoh Nkosi, I send my deepest condolences to the family and I hope God gives them the strength to face this sad and heartbreaking situation.”

For now, the family has asked for privacy and patience as they mourn. Updates about memorial plans will be shared when they are ready.
