Big Brother Mzansi recently hosted an exciting media launch at Multichoice City in Randburg to introduce the highly anticipated fifth season of the reality show. Set to premiere on January 12th at 6 PM on Mzansi Magic, the new season promises to deliver even more drama, twists, and unforgettable moments.
Known for its engaging challenges, Friday night games, and lively Saturday parties, Big Brother Mzansi always keeps its audience on the edge of their seats—and this season will be no exception. The event was attended by several former housemates, including Yolanda Monyai, Tshepo ‘Makhekhe’ Tau, Zintle ‘Zee’ Mofokeng, Sinaye Kotobe, and Mishack ‘Mich’ Mazibuko, who also provided the beats as the DJ for the evening. In a major announcement, seasoned TV and radio presenter Afrika Mdutyulwa was revealed as the new host, taking over from Lawrence Maleka. Mdutyulwa, known for his work on YFM, 5FM, and Massive Music, is sure to bring a fresh energy to the show.
According to Bona Magazine, Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels, promised a season like no other. “The theme is in line with what people can expect. We’re about breaking boundaries and taking people out of their comfort zone. This format is the perfect pressure cooker to put people in. There are so many interpretations of the word Umlilo (fire). We’re experimenting with things never done before,” she said.
Adonisi also emphasized that this season will push contestants to their limits. “We’re determined to make them as uncomfortable as possible. We’re really pushing the envelope. We’ll test their intolerance to see how much they can take without breaking any legal rules,” she added.
