Uyanda Hlangabezo, the first runner-up of Big Brother Mzansi Season 5, is mourning the passing of his beloved grandmother. The 24-year-old from Gqeberha, who is also a pedagogical practitioner and brand ambassador for Mzansi Magic and Chillers Punch, shared the heartbreaking news with his followers on Instagram.

In a touching post, Uyanda opened up about the deep loss his family is experiencing. He wrote, “It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beloved grandmother. She was the heart of our family—a source of wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. Her presence was a guiding light in my life, and her legacy will continue to inspire me every day.”
He also asked his fans and followers for space to grieve, saying, “I ask for privacy during this time as my family and I grieve this immense loss and celebrate the incredible life she lived. Thank you for your support, love, and understanding.”
To avoid any confusion, Uyanda added a small clarification about who the grandmother was: “Just for some clarity, it’s my grandmother from the maternal side, not the actual grandmother you know from the paternal side (Ugogo we country).”
