SAPS Minister Bheki Cele has made explosive claims in a highly publicized feud with Ukhozi FM DJ Zimiphi ‘Zimdollar’ Biyela. The controversy erupted following the tragic killing of NIU warrant officer Sithembiso Mazibuko in Ntuzuma, which sent shockwaves through social media.

During the funeral service for Officer Mazibuko in Durban, Minister Bheki Cele took the opportunity to express his grievances. He accused Zimdollar of allegedly inciting violence against NIU officers with comments she had made during a live radio broadcast just two weeks prior. He passionately declared that the radio DJ might find satisfaction in the officer’s demise. Held her accountable for the tragedy.

The social media frenzy began when a Twitter user, @jozitube, posted a video clip of Minister Bheki Cele lambasting Zimdollar at the funeral. Captioning it, “Bheki Cele making sure Zimdollar of Ukhozi FM is fired.” This viral post set the stage for a heated debate among netizens.

@Mdletshe_BB reflected on the situation, noting the contentious nature of policing in South Africa. Emphasizing that there are numerous critical issues that the public raises regarding the police force. They suggested that BCCSA, rather than a public condemnation, should have been the appropriate channel for addressing such concerns.

Critics also questioned Minister Cele’s qualifications outside of his “struggle credentials,” highlighting the need for competence and expertise in addressing complex issues like this.

@SiphamandlaMaz9 expressed a lack of respect for Minister Cele and believed that his actions were unworthy of a person in his position. They mentioned his inability to handle media scrutiny and public appearances.

@Jackman_25 speculated about the responsibility of SABC in monitoring the content of its broadcasts. Suggesting that they should have been more vigilant in addressing Zimdollar’s comments.

@Mqadi99 sarcastically referred to Minister Cele as the “official spokesperson of izigebengu,” implying that his response might be more suited for a vigilante than a public official.

@Sabza200BC raised a significant point, arguing that it was unfair to hold Zimdollar accountable for police actions. They suggested that Zimdollar was merely expressing her opinions about police conduct. It was not her responsibility to prevent such incidents.

@ManRichD sought evidence of the controversial remarks made by Zimdollar on her radio show. Particularly those relating to the late Nkululeko Mkhize, a notorious criminal from Richards Bay. This call for evidence highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in the matter.

In summary, the controversy involving Minister Bheki Cele and Zimdollar has ignited a passionate discussion on social media. Touching on issues related to policing, media responsibility, and the roles and responsibilities of public figures in addressing complex issues.
