Sfiso Ncwane’s widow for the first time sat down for an interview on her husband’s death. The mother of two shared details of her last moments with her husband in an emotional interview on Ukhozi FM. ‘I begged him not to leave me,’ Ayanda recalls the day Sfiso died.
Ayanda says when Sfiso told her he was not feeling well after a trip to Limpopo, she wanted to take him straight to the hospital but he insisted to go the next day.
Ayanda recalled how she found Sfiso collapsed on the bathroom floor. “An ambulance was called as we prayed and also poured water onto Sfiso to wake him. A few minutes later, he woke up confused by the fuss we were causing, asking what happened,” she said.
Ayanda says Sfiso woke up a few minutes later, confused by the fuss they were causing, asking what had happened. Sfiso was then rushed to Fourways Life Hospital where doctors broke the news to her that Sfiso was suffering from kidney failure
Ayanda says she was praying for her husband as doctors worked through the night to try and save Sfiso’s life. “It was at 9.30am when they pulled me outside suddenly, I didn’t even ask why. The doctor came back and held my hand and said, ‘sisi I am sorry, your husband didn’t make it,'” she recalled.
“I went next to him. I asked him not to leave me. I begged him. I even tried to move him, but he was gone,” said an emotional Ayanda.
