Two rising stars, Bokang “Beekay” Chephetsa (23) from the Free State and Uyanda Hlangabezo (24) from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, have just made history by becoming the first-ever official brand ambassadors for Chillers Punch, a proudly South African alcoholic beverage brand.
The exciting announcement was made on the popular Podcast and Chill with MacG, hosted by MacGyver Mukwevho and his co-host Sol Phenduka. The episode premiered on 28 April and quickly got fans talking online.
During the show, MacG—who is also the founder of Chillers Punch—shared how the decision to pick the ambassadors came directly from the fans, affectionately known as the “Chillers”.
“We got so much love and people wanted to be the ambassadors. The Chillers decided it wasn’t up to us,” MacG explained during the episode. “The official Chillers Punch ambassador, for the first time ever, is Uyanda! And the second ambassador is Beekay!”
Beekay, a former Big Brother Mzansi contestant who was evicted during week 9 of the show, was thrilled about the news. Taking to social media, he proudly said, “It’s official. I’m a Chillers Punch ambassador!”
The announcement was met with joy across social media platforms. Fans flooded Twitter and Instagram with messages of support and excitement. One fan wrote, “I’m sooo happy for Beekay! A well-deserved win!” Another supporter posted, “I’ll sleep so peacefully today knowing that my fave is finally the first Chillers Punch ambassador!”
When Chillers Punch first launched at a Big Brother Mzansi Saturday night party in January, MacG spoke to Daily Sun about the importance of celebrating and uplifting local brands. He said it was a proud moment to see homegrown, black-owned alcohol brands like Chillers Punch and his premium gin, Grandeur, getting recognition on big stages.
“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and, more importantly, the support we get from the Chillers,” MacG told Daily Sun. “It’s a proud moment for us, and we hope our participation will pave the way for more diverse representation in the industry.”
